Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Santa Rosa Mountains, La Quinta, known as “The Gem of the Desert,” is a desert oasis offering resort-style living, world-class golf, and a vibrant community lifestyle. La Quinta is situated between Palm Desert and Indio, but also bordered by Indian Wells and Bermuda Dunes and is known as a resort destination. The city has a population of approximately 39,907 and the median household income in La Quinta is $106,681 and the cost of living is lower than the California average, but higher than the National average. The median age is approximately 52.1 and the homeownership rate is high at 72%. The city sees an influx of over 12,000 part-time residents during the winter months.

La Quinta is in the Desert Sands Unified School District and there are 10 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 1 high school.

Utilities available in La Quinta include Imperial Irrigation District (IID) for electricity, which is the lower cost utility provider in the Coachella Valley. So Cal Gas, and Coachella Valley Water District.

La Quinta’s shopping includes stores like Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Costco, Ulta, Kohl’s, Petsmart, Petco, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Floor & Decor, and more. LA Quinta has a handful of auto dealerships on Highway 111 and you’ll find grocery stores like Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, Stater Bros., Vons, Ralph’s, and Albertson’s.

The La Quinta Cove is home to Old Town La Quinta, a walkable Spanish-style village filled with boutique shops, art galleries, and locally owned restaurants. It’s the perfect spot for outdoor dining, coffee, or weekend strolls. Nestled right against the Santa Rosa Mountains, this neighborhood is popular for its dramatic views, charming adobe-style homes, and direct access to hiking and biking trails. The Cove offers a mix of affordability and character, making it ideal for full-time residents and vacation homeowners alike and is host to many things to do such as weekly Farmer’s markets, car shows, and so much more.

La Quinta is considered the golf capital of California with over 20 golf courses, including PGA West - known as the “Western Home of Golf in America,” PGA West offers a collection of gated communities with stunning fairway views, multiple private and public courses, and resort-style amenities and is host to the AMEX PGA tour and The Prestige.

La Quinta is also neighbors with The BNP Paribas Tennis tournament in Indian Wells and Indio’s world renowned music and arts festivals, Coachella and Stagecoach. The city also hosts a nationally recognized art festival and an Ironman race.

Lake Cahuilla is also located in La Quinta and is a popular fishing spot that includes a campground, hiking trails, picnic, and a playground facility.

There is a Cinemark movie theater, a Marvyn’s Magic Theater, and is just minutes away from the Acrisure Arena.
